These people can teach you more about children's publishing than you'd think.
This Saturday, November 16, I’ll be part of CANSCAIP’s Packaging Your Imagination Conference.
The conference is Canada’s largest and longest running one on creating children’s culture. It offers tons of seminars – everything from comic-book storytelling to voicing your teen narrators. Whether you’re a beginner, established or somewhere in-between, CANSCAIP’s PYI Conference provides opportunities to improve your craft, deepen your industry connections and learn the latest business and marketing skills .
Somehow, the good people at CANSCAIP allowed me to give a children’s publishing seminar that features at least two Black-Eyed Peas references in the title, so you know it’s going to be good:
Let’s Get It Started: Overcome Your Publishing Humps
Beginner Session for All Interests
Looking to break into children’s publishing in Canada? We’ve got some handy tips and dandy ideas to make your manuscript stand out in the slush pile. Kick in the door of children’s book publishing (okay, maybe not so violent) with the help of someone who’s worked on both sides of the publisher/author fence.
(There may also be a few Cameo references.) You can still register on-site. To find out more about some of the other workshops, offered by such names as R. J. Anderson, Ty Templeton and Sylvia McNicoll, at the CANSCAIP website.
On-site Registration: 8:15 a.m.
Conference location: L Building
